A1c And EAG

Hemoglobin A1C (HA1c or HbgA1c) and estimated average glucose (EAG) test is conducted to screen for and/or diagnose diabetes and pre-diabetes.  It can also be used to monitor a person's diabetes and to help in making decisions regarding treatment.


This test is conducted when a patient shows symptoms of diabetes or is diagnosed with diabetes for the first time. Patients with diabetes should really be tested two to four times a year, however talk with your doctor about how often they like to perform this test. This test is performed on a blood sample drawn from a fingertip or a vein in the arm.
