Alloantibody Identification (Ab ID) test is used to identify the cause of a transfusion reaction or the cause of hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN).

This test is ordered when positive results are shown by direct antiglobulin test (DAT) and indirect antiglobulin test (IAT). This test helps to identify the specific antibodies in the red blood cells.  The test is performed on a sample of blood drawn from a vein in arm.
