ApoE Cardiac RiskApolipoprotein E (ApoE) is one of the main types of lipoproteins in the blood. It is mostly produced in the liver and brain. The ApoE test is conducted for cardiac risk assessment (heart disease). ApoE genotyping is ordered when patients have significantly high levels of cholesterol triglyceride levels. Patients with high levels of ApoE are at a higher risk of developing early cardiovascular diseases and are more likely to suffer a myocardial infarction (MI)/heart attack or cerebrovascular accident (CVA)/stroke. | |
