Alesse

Allesse is a medication used as oral contraception to avoid unwanted or unplanned pregnancy. Allesse contains a combination of female hormones that prevent the release of an egg from the ovaries.  Alesse also makes it more difficult for sperm to reach the uterus and for fertilized eggs to attach the uterus due to its affects on the cervical mucus and uterine lining.

Do not smoke while using Alesse or other contraceptives as this can increase your risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack. Do not take it in larger amounts or take it for longer than recommended by your medical practitioner.  In other words, take this medication exactly as prescribed.
