Avodart is a medication used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with enlarged prostates. BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. Avodart can improve symptoms associated with BPH, such as decreased urine flow, getting up to urinate during the night, difficulty in urinating, and hesitation at the start of urination.

Some of the side effects of using Avodart include breast enlargement or tenderness, decreased sexual desire or ability, difficulty getting or keeping an erection, and decreased amount of semen released during sex.
