Olopatadin

Olopatadin is an "antihistamine."  It inhibits (stops) release of histamine from a type of cell in your body called a Mast cell.  Histamine is the chemical in your body that causes the typical "allergic" response including such symptoms as itching, redness, swelling, etc.

Olopatadin is prescribed to treat watering and itching of the eyes caused by allergies.  Generally, Olopatadin should not be used to treat itching caused by contact lenses.

Olopatadin is sold as a prescription eye drop. Talk with your doctor prior to use and for recommended dosing and frequency.

Some of the side effects of olopatadin can include such things as blurred vision, headache, dry eyes, burning or stinging.
