Triamterene And HydrocholorthiazideTriamterene and Hydrocholorthiazide can be used in combination to treat fluid retention (edema) in patients with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or a kidney disorder called nephrotic syndrome. They work by making the body lose water and salt. Triamterene is, what doctors call, a potassium-sparing diuretic as it allows the body to shed excess fluid while not wasting large amounts of potassium. Possible side effects are headache, increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach cramps and diarrhea. | |
