Zomig is a medication used for treating acute migraine headaches. It is used only when the migraine has already begun and in general, it does not prevent or reduce the chances of migraine headaches.  Zomig and other similar medications, work by narrowing the blood vessels around the brain and reducing the substances in the body that can trigger migraine headaches. 

Zomig should not be used to treat common tension headaches. You should avoid this medication if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, severe liver disease or coronary artery disease.  Talk with your doctor prior to use of Zomig.
